Harrisburg, Pa. - Youth Advocate Programs (YAP®), Inc. has added two new faces to its top-level managerial team, Chief Program Officer Dr. LaVeisha Cummings and Chief Financial Officer Brian Morgan.
YAP® is a 51-year-old national nonprofit that partners with youth justice, child welfare, and other systems in communities to deliver family-centered, accountability-focused services as an alternative to correctional and residential care facilities. The agency’s executive team oversees philanthropic development, human resources, legal, operations, programming, finance, marketing and communications, service delivery, and quality improvement functions.
“Throughout her career, [Cummings] has demonstrated an ability to lead through change, strengthen program performance, develop leaders, build effective systems, and create greater alignment and accountability across teams,” YAP® CEO and President Gary Ivory said. “Her breadth of experience has given her a strong understanding of how different service models require different approaches while maintaining fidelity to YAP’s mission and standards.”
Cummings started her career with YAP® 15 years ago as a program director before becoming Tri-State Regional Director, Vice President, and Executive Vice President. She has overseen all of YAP®’s programming including youth justice, behavioral health, child welfare, school-based services, and community violence intervention.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of Chief Program Officer,” Cummings said. “YAP’s mission has been part of my leadership journey for many years, and I remain inspired by the people who bring that mission to life every day. I look forward to building on our strong foundation, strengthening how we support our teams, and ensuring that the young people, families and communities we serve remain at the center of everything we do.”
Morgan joined YAP® in July 2026. He previously served as the Director of Finance and Behavioral Health at Penn State Health and was Chief Financial Officer of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute in Harrisburg, Pa., in the same city where YAP® is headquartered. He has also held financial management roles at Keystone Human Services and McKonly & Asbury, LLP.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve as the next Chief Financial Officer of YAP,” Morgan said. “I am inspired by the passion and commitment of everyone I have met in the field, working behind the scenes, and serving on the Executive Leadership Team to YAP's mission and the individuals YAP serves.”
Morgan plans to continue meeting with teams across the organization, to build on its strong foundation, strategically expand its impact, and reach even more individuals and families who can benefit from YAP®'s services.
Morgan has been a financial executive for over two decades who described his leadership as being “grounded in employee engagement, data-driven insight, and disciplined resource stewardship.”
“[Morgan] brings extensive financial leadership in the nonprofit sector to YAP,” Ivory added. “In addition to his financial leadership, he is a servant leader. We look forward to him bringing his expertise to YAP.”
