YAP Mourns Loss of Alabama Director

0 Comments | | Return|

On March 13th, YAP lost a vivacious and dedicated team member in the passing of Baldwin County, Alabama Program Director Sheri Jernigan-Brown.  Sheri first joined the YAP family in South Carolina, working in both our Charleston and Horry-Georgetown offices before returning to her home state.  Sheri brought her dynamic and infectious passion for our youth and families to Baldwin County, where she worked with juvenile justice involved youth.  She engaged a number of community partners in supporting her young people and providing them with meaningful opportunities to help others through efforts such as The Ridden Word and Habitat for Humanity.   Sheri's program was in the process of expanding services to work with children and families involved in the child welfare system.

Sheri lived and breathed the YAP mission and principles and will be deeply missed: she was dedicated, ever grateful, and genuine.  Our thoughts are with her daughter Nikki, her staff, her youth and families in Baldwin, and all those who mourn her passing and celebrate her life.

For those interested in expressing condolences and sympathy, Sheri's daughter Nikki asked that donations be made to the Baldwin County YAP program in lieu of flowers. To read Sheri's obituary or sign the guest book, please click here.
