Baltimore YAP Hosts Block Party

0 Comments | | Return|

The first annual Baltimore YAP Community Block Party/ Book Bag Giveaway took place on Saturday, August 24th. The event was attended by over 700 people, several community leaders, DJS caseworkers, Baltimore City educators, Baltimore City councilman and the Baltimore City police commissioner.

BYAP partnered with The Fred Jones Foundation, 2110 Bistro, Wal-mart, and Ray Lewis Foundation to provide four hours of activities, entertainment, free food, balloons, face painting, and snow balls to the community. Additionally, over 400 book bags stuffed with school supplies were given to the families of West Baltimore.

This event provided a great deal of visibility for BYAP. With the large number of children in Baltimore that go back to school unprepared, BYAP was able to fulfill a great need in their community.

Baltimore YAP employees and youth staffed the entire event, serving as the face painters, clean-up/set-up/ break-down crew, and manning the registration and information/resource tables. Congratulations on a successful day!
