#YAPGivingTuesday Donations Support Community-Based Alternatives to Youth Prison and other Out-of-Home Placement

(Nov. 6, 2018) – For more than four decades, Youth Advocate Programs (YAP) Inc. employees have been focused on delivering programs that have proven to be an effective and safe alternative to youth prison, residential behavioral health facilities and other out-of-home placements.  On Nov. 27, with their #YAPGivingTuesday campaign, YAP employees will raise public awareness of their mission and give people who believe in their cause a way to support individuals and families YAP serves in their communities.

#YAPGivingTuesday is a YAP agency-wide employee-led social media push linked to Giving Tuesday. Taking place after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday has become the official launch of the holiday season when people focus on giving to their favorite local, national and global charities.

For the #YAPGivingTuesday campaign, many of YAP’s nearly 2,000 full- and part-time employees will share #YAPGivingTuesday social media memes and messages highlighting youth and others they serve through their community-based residential placement alternatives. YAP Advocates, employees who live in the neighborhoods of individuals and families they serve, provide intensive one-to-one mentoring while working with their teammates to empower parents/guardians with individualized toolkits and connections to resources to help them succeed. Employees in YAP’s offices in 22 states and the District of Columbia will kick off their #YAPGivingTuesday campaign with team potluck breakfast meetings.

In addition to supporting their favorite local programs, #YAPGivingTuesday donors may also direct funds towards YAP’s Tom Jeffers Endowment Fund for Continuing Education Scholarships. The fund is largely supported by YAP employees to give individuals and parents and guardians of youth served by YAP extra support for college or job training.
