On March 13, 2018, YAP was selected as the Mental Healthcare Giver of the year by Central Penn Parent’s 11th annual Healthcare Heroes awards program. The Central PA programs recognized include York, Adams, Tri-County (Dauphin/Cumberland/Perry), Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.  The award“recognizes excellence, promotes innovation and honors the efforts of individuals and organizations making significant positive impacts on the quality of health care in Central Pennsylvania.”

YAP won the magazine’s Mental HealthCare Giver of the Year, nominated alongside four other providers. Ten other individuals or organizations also won Hero awards for other areas of healthcare.

“We are so grateful for this award and to be in community with so many other people working to improve the health of people in Central Pennsylvania, said Robert Witt, Director of Program Services for Adams and York County YAP.  “It’s a real honor to be able to provide mental health care services to people in need in our community and to help them lead meaningful lives.”

The awards were announced at a breakfast ceremony celebrating finalists and winners’ contributions to improving healthcare in Central Pennsylvania. Finalists and winners are featured in a special section of the April/May 2018 issue of Central Penn Parent. The award was sponsored by UPMC Pinnacle, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.
