9th Annual Harrisburg, PA Peace Street

Dauphin County YAP hosted its 9th annual Peace Street in Harrisburg, PA on Friday July 21st.  Families, community partners and representatives from the city lined the streets in front of the YAP Family Clinic in Harrisburg. This annual event was initiated in response to increased violence in the city with the goal of engaging youth and families in thoughts and actions that contribute toward building strong and peaceful communities. The celebration of peace and community collaboration provided free food to youth and families, live entertainment, games and raffles of bikes, tvs and air conditioning units.

Nearly 30 local service providers lined 3rd street, providing information to visitors about available services. We thank these partner agencies for their efforts to make Harrisburg a more peaceful community.

Attendees found relief from the scorching heat at the water ice tent, presented by Canon, and the kids enjoyed running through sprinklers in the parking lot.

Art in the Garden provided a shady spot for youth to create artwork like spin art, face painting, sand art, sensory bottles and music exploration.  New to this year's event was horse rides.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, central Pennsylvania YAP staff, and community members for making this event possible.
