Allegheny YAP Named Exceptional Employer

Recently YAP was honored at The Howard Levin Clubhouse 6th Employer Recognition Event. The clubhouse exists in Pittsburgh, PA as a welcoming community resource for adults with mental illness to come together for self-esteem building as well as vocational and social skills training. Recipients of the "Exceptional Employer Recognition Award" were chosen from clubhouse members who have gained meaningful paid or volunteer employment through a local agency, business, or private venture.

Delaine, a clubhouse member, is an adult with autism who currently receives services with YAP through the Adult Autism Wavier (AAW). In addition, Delaine also writes for "The Pittverse Magazine," which was created by YAP adults with autism participants and is funded by the Edith L. Trees Foundation. The magazine employs adult participants as freelance writers and features their articles, interviews, artwork, and photos. Currently, there are 21 adult writers.

The next issue of "The Pittverse Magazine," will be released on March 30th, 2016.  View previous issues on our website.
