Roanoke County YAP Gives Back to Rescue Mission

0 Comments | | Return|

Roanoke YAP in Virginia gave back to their community through volunteering at a local Rescue Mission. They worked in the kitchen in a variety of roles. A young woman and her foster mom and foster sibling served food to more than 200 shelter residents, an advocate and a client cut bushels of apples, our Director and a mother cleaned and chopped cauliflower, and an advocate and a client rinsed dirty dishes for the dishwasher.

Additionally, the Administrative Manager and Advocacy Coordinator and a youth's mother worked on Saturday morning to make bag lunches for the residents' Sunday meal.

Everyone had a wonderful time with lots of laughter and gratitude. One family plans to return every month to volunteer.
