MLB Pitcher Surprises YAP Youth in TX

0 Comments | | Return|

MLB pitcher Yovani Gallardo surprised some YAP youth in our Fort Worth, TX program earlier this month when he stopped by for a visit. The youth were gathered for their Peaceful Alternatives to Tough Situations (PATTS) class, when Gallardo walked into the room. He spoke with the youth and encouraged them to take advantage of the mentors around them and make the most of their opportunities.

Gallardo is a graduate of Trimble Technical High School in Fort Worth. He played for the Milwaukee Brewers for the past 8 seasons, and is now pitching for the Texas Rangers. He remains deeply connected to the Fort Worth community and was eager to visit Youth Advocate Programs.

The youth were excited to meet the major league baseball player, taking pictures and getting autographs. One young man, who came to the session directly from high school baseball practice, was even able to get his baseball glove signed by the star!
