As an integral part of a community’s continuum of services, YAP successfully engages many youth who are ineligible for or who are not succeeding with other services. We are driven by the desire for our youth and families to succeed in our program and beyond- to live productive, meaningful lives in their community. Therefore, we want to ensure that we are providing them with the best service possible.
YAP measures and tracks
outcomes, has partnered with a number of universities to do research on our model and been identified as a promising practice by a number of recognized organizations.We have also adopted specific evidence-based interventions that we believe strengthen our core wraparound/advocacy model.
YAP has incorporated
Peaceful Alternatives to Tough Situations (PATTS), an evidenced-based group intervention for older youth, into our work with juvenile justice involved youth in eleven YAP states (PA, NJ, NY, TX, GA, AL, LA, CO, FL, IL, NV, WV). The intervention, which uses cognitive-behavioral therapeutic strategies, is designed to help youth manage and reduce conflict and violent responses through emotional regulation and improving pro-social skills.
