Scholarship Essay

November 18, 2013

YAP has helped me become who I am today by helping me cope with my Autism but not just that. They have also helped me embrace my inner self such as how smart I am and how much I can achieve. There was a time that I did not known myself and wanted to take my life. YAP helped me realize my true potential and also helped me realize that taking my life was not the way to deal with my problems. It's the worst way to deal with your problems. They helped me with my anger problems while if it was not for them I might not be here right now. There were quite a few therapists I had and they showed me a lot and taught me a lot. I achieved so much such as getting really good grades, graduating from high school with high regards, and now I am in college studying computers and am trying to make something of myself. I have achieved much more such as knowing how be interactive with somebody and now I have a lot of friends that would stick with me through thick and thin, the good kind of friends. I will use what I have learned from YAP to help me deal with customers in my field. In my field which is computers you need to have good people skills and know how to talk with them and YAP has helped me do this. There is so much I have done and so much I can do. YAP is one of the best things to happen to me. This is how YAP has helped me become who I am today.

Nomination Letter

Christine A. Matha, TSS

I am writing this letter to recommend Nathan Carey for the Youth Advocate Endowment Fund Scholarship. I was Nathan's therapeutic support staff and have known Nathan for last four years.

As a client, Nathan demonstrated a love of learning and the level of commitment necessary to succeed in college and beyond. As his TSS, I am happy to be able to provide this recommendation for such a deserving student. I have great respect for Nathan and truly believe that he is a deserving candidate.

He has shown enthusiasm in his education and values what he has learned. In addition to having first hand knowledge of Nathan's academic commitment, I am also familiar with his educational goals, as well as the challenges he will face when it comes to funding vocational school tuition. I cannot think of anyone more deserving and I wholeheartedly support Nathan's application.

I feel certain that you will be just as impressed with Nathan as I am. As a TSS who is committed to helping my clients succeed, I strongly encourage you to consider him for this scholarship.
