YAP Scholarship Recipients

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is excited to announce academic scholarships to youth who are or have been involved in YAP programs. The scholarships are provided through the Youth Advocate Endowment Fund, which grew out of our staff's recognition of the skills and talents of the young people we serve. Staff members recognized that the young people we work with have skills and talents that can and must be developed. However, we were concerned that the high cost of education would discourage many of our outstanding YAP clients from reaching their full potential.

According to David White, President of the YAP Endowment Board, "Our staff found a glimmer of hope and a dime in their pockets to make the YAP Endowment Fund what it is today." Throughout 15 states, the 2000 staff members of YAP have raised monies through basket raffles, golf tournaments, car washes, walk-a-thons, carnivals, picnics, food/beverage sales, bottle drives, vending machines, coupon books, cookbooks, and apparel sales. To qualify for the scholarships, former or current youth involved with YAP programs were nominated by a YAP employee and then asked to submit an essay on why they should be considered for the award.
