Past Collaborations

Division of Youth and Family Services (NJ)
YAP participated in helping to restructure the system to return 1400 youth from out-of-state placements back to their home community. YAP also provided training to front-line staff and other community-based organizations on strength-based planning with high-risk youth and families.

Administration for Children's Services (NYC)
YAP's partnership with ACS supported the initiative to reduce the number of adolescents languishing in congregate care through the provision of strategic consulting, training internal staff and external contract agencies , coaching, modeling, and placing and Embedded Worker at a Residential Treatment Center to help expedite permanency planning. This effort was successful in returning over 600 teens to family-based placements.

Hale Kipa, Inc. (Hawaii)
YAP partnered with this community-based organization to develop a community-based program designed to reduce the over-representation of native youth in secure detention and other residential facilities by offering an intensive community-based alternative. This pilot on Oahu led to a state-wide contract to the agency to formalize the Hawaii Advocate Program serving 400 young people on four Hawaiian Islands. It was the first state-wide prevention initiative in the Hawaii, and recently awarded a contract renewal for six more years due to it's grand success.

Kibble Education and Care Centre(Glasgow, Scotland)
YAP's partnership with this residential treatment center focuses on the development of a community-based program to help transition their youth back into their communities and families. The program called AdvocacyWorks served 25 young people in its first year. Kibble's goal is to develop the program so that most every young person in their facility will be matched with an Advocate as they return home.
