Lynette M. Brown-Sow

Lynette M. Brown-Sow serves as the Vice-President of Marketing and Government Relations at Community College of Philadelphia, and has done so since 1995. She is responsible for marketing, advertising, public relations, publications, special events, workforce development and community and government relations. She is the founder and owner of L.M. Brown Management Group. Ms. Brown-Sow also served as Deputy Mayor for the City of Philadelphia.

L.M. Brown Management Group was founded and certified in 1980 as a minority/female-owned consultant firm. The firm provides professional services to corporations, non-profit organizations, governmental and public service entities. Professional services offered by L.M. Brown Management Group include training, program planning, special events, public relations, organizational development, strategic planning, project management, marketing, government and community relations.

In January of 1991, Ms. Brown-Sow was appointed Deputy Mayor of Administration by Mayor Edward G. Rendell where she was responsible for managing the Mayor's appointees to all boards, commissions and non-civil service positions. She served as a liaison to numerous businesses, community and public service groups and managed special projects and events.

Ms. Brown-Sow has a Master's Degree in Policy Planning and Development from Bryn Mawr College and a Bachelor's Degree in Administration from Antioch University. She has held appointments as adjunct faculty at Antioch University and taught in the Mental Health Social Services Department at Community College of Philadelphia. She has lectured at Temple University and Bryn Mawr College and is a member of the 1985 class of the Community Leadership Seminars Program.

Ms. Brown-Sow was appointed to the City of Philadelphia Planning Commission in December, 1997. For over 20 years, Ms. Brown-Sow has been active in behavioral healthcare. She has chaired and served on the board of one of the largest mental health agencies in the country and served three years as Region III Community Director to the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare which serves Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Ms. Brown-Sow's volunteer affiliations include membership in the Forum of Executive Women, the Avenue of the Arts, the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, The Consortium and the Youth Advocate Program and international youth service program. She is chair of the Board of Directors of Health Services, Inc., and is the Mayor Representative on the Board of City Trust.
