YAP EXPANDS INTO DENVER, OUR 25th MAJOR METRO AREA
In January 2012, YAP begins a new contract with the Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS) to provide family strengthening and reunification services that aim to prevent out-of-home placement of the child; return children in placement to their own homes; or, unite children with their permanent families while providing services that protect the child.
"Our advocate staff, recruited from the same neighborhoods as where the youth originated, will assist to find homes for these kids. We will listen to the kids, interview relatives and provide support on the ground so that identified permanent placements will succeed," said Patty Rosati, YAP's Regional Director for the Southwest. YAP's program also involves implementing evidenced-based and practical life skill services, including job preparation and placement in entry level jobs with future earning potential for the young people in the Denver area. The Denver program complements our child welfare services in nearby Adams County. The program is currently recruiting for a Director to oversee operations.
