Carla Benway, Vice President, Employee and Program Development

Since 1998, Ms. Benway has been a member of Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. Ms. Benway began as a Therapist and was promoted to Program Director for our Behavioral Health Program in the Lehigh Valley in 2000. From 2002 to 2003, she served as the Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Program Manager for a YAP UK Program in Leicester, England. In 2003, Ms. Benway returned to the states -- to the Lehigh Valley, specifically -- where she served as the Community Reintegration Project Program Director. From 2004 to 2006, Ms. Benway worked as Consultant to New York City's Administration for Children's Services. In 2006 she took on the role of Associate Vice President for Program Development & Special Projects, before being promoted to her current position of Vice-President, Employee and Program Development in 2007.

Before joining YAP, Ms. Benway accumulated four years of relevant project experience, working for the Women's Resource Center, Community Services for Children, Inc., Valley Youth House, Inc., and, finally, the Bertha Capen Reynolds Society, where she served as President and Co-founder.

In 2006, she co-authored "Youth Advocacy: Programming Justice Focused Family Support Intervention", a chapter of Family Support as Reflective Practice (Dolan P, Canavan, J, & Pinkerton, J; Jessica Kingsley Publishers).

Ms. Benway holds the following professional memberships: Member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD); Member of the National Association of Social Workers; Member of the Center for Creative Leadership; and Member of the National Association of Professional Women.
