YAP presented on truancy interventions at the 2014 MEGA Conference hosted by the Alabama Department of Education in Mobile, Alabama on July 14th - 18th. In Alabama, 20% (150,000) youth who begin high school do not graduate. YAP Directors Vivian Davis and Brian Kluchurosky partnered with Walker County School System staff to provide insight into understanding truancy and to share effective strategies to engage youth and families based on the YAP model. The conference was an important opportunity to network with the administrators/educators for the state of Alabama and share a vision for YAP truancy programs to support the school systems in Alabama.
